Crappy Photo of New Work

This is number two of my "crazy legs" series and is the center piece for all three. I made it for Miss S. This one is titled "Holy Ghost" and pretty much shows where I'm heading in painting. Leave comments if you wish. It's a terrible picture of the work but it's all I've got for now. The painting is too big to scan so I have to take bad photos of it. I don't have the right equipment for high res spectacular photos. Enjoy.

new photography stuff

This set of manipulated photos were highly influenced by Patrick Winfield, Andy Warhol, and Electronic Music. It started out as an exercise to make a poster and turned into something more complex and fun. I played a lot with scanner effects and photo manipulation. For each square I wanted to create a composition and see how well I could arrange them as a whole. I'm really happy with it and I'm glad I'm experimenting with technology within art again. It's been awhile. I plan to make prints of this and sell them for real cheap. If interested get a hold of me and we can arrange something.

New Art Update

People haven't been seen me around lately because I've been busy being creative and making stuff, so here's what I've been up to lately. I've been doing a lot of experimenting with different mediums. I'm also trying to veer away from spray paint and use more traditional mediums instead, like screen printing. The only problem with screen printing is that you need a lot of patience and it's also a lot of money, meaning working with expensive acetate. I've been working a lot with collage, rabbit skin glue, gouache, and water colors. The Ice T painting is not finished, it's just an idea of what I'm going for in that painting. I guess it's kind of a map. It will look very similar with very minor detail adjustments and more texture. Sooooo, I hope you enjoy what I've been making. Please leave comments if you wish.

Doodle

Illustrator Joanne Woodward

This is an exercise using the pen tool and the pencil tool. I'm not very familiar with the program so it was all new to me. The project turned up looking a lot better than I thought it would. Enjoy!

Screen Prints

So these are some screen prints I did about a month ago for an art show. It was pretty successful, a lot of people showed up and I sold some prints. Anyways, I printed a lot of them so if you are interested in buying one shoot me an e-mail at connollyart@gmail.com. I'm selling each print for 30 dollars and the whole set for 75 dollars. 10% of your proceeds goes to the Ai of California-Design Innovation club. It's for a good cause so consider getting one.

Here is a short explination of the artwork:

AN A-Z OF BEAUTY
Ryan Connolly

This piece is influenced by a Graphic Design Company in Paris called M/M. My poster is based on a font that they created called "An A to Z of Beauty". The fonts were letters that were shaped around the female figure or objects that a female would have. I chose my own color palette, complementary pastels and integrated my love of half-tones. I have a weird fascination with numbers and number placement so I chose to make a number instead of a letter. Everything in this poster is original but loosely based on M/M design.
